What's the difference between the last batch versus this batch of Solera Ole George?
We are on Batch #3 of the Solera Ole George, and with each batch comes different flavor profiles. Compared to Batch #2, Batch #3 contains much sweeter notes on the finish. There are more prominent notes coming from the Cognac barrel, creating a deeper sweeter note of molasses that complements the existing vanilla and spice notes from the mash bill and white and french oak barrels. Because we only pull out half of the third barrel in the Solera system, which is the Cognac barrel, the batches get sweeter and sweeter over time as they sit longer. So if you have an existing bottle of Solera Ole George, we recommend you make your way to one of our tasting rooms to give Batch #3 a go.
Where can I find a bottle?
Our Solera whiskeys are part of our limited-edition whiskeys, which means they don't go out in distribution through the state of Michigan, and are only available in our tasting rooms. Currently, we have our tasting rooms in Frankenmuth, downtown Traverse City, and the HQ off of 3 Mile Rd in Traverse City that have the Solera Ole George available.
